Tyrus’ funeral expenses

Donation protected

It is with a heavy heart that I come to tell you all my uncle lost his battle today. He fought one heck of a fight!!

Hi my name is Jennifer Portis, I am Ty’s niece ( god daughter). Many have asked how they can help in this time of need for the Barber family. Well as much as we know my uncle Tyrus and aunt Brittany hate to ask for anything, it is time to swallow their pride. Today marks day 14 of Ty being on a ventilator, but 22 days without any sort of income and bills of everyday life are starting to stack up. Not to mention the hospital bills that will follow. Brittany has so much on her plate, As she’s trying to make decisions for Ty and keeping up with the 5 kids at home is no easy task. All while family are hundreds of miles away. So if you have the ability to give a charitable donation it is greatly appreciated, if you are unable to donate that is understandable we just ask to keep them in your prayers. At this moment we are praying for a miracle, as he has been given less than a 40% chance.

this is the update as of today-from Brittany:

I feel like I am living my worst nightmare and it's not even close to being over.

Yesterday was rough. They called me to come to the hospital to say my goodbyes. The doctor says their is nothing else they can do but try and keep him comfortable. He is on 100% oxygen from the ventilator and very strong antibiotics to help fight the infection covid has caused in his lungs. They placed a larger tube for drainage just to try to help. The doctor was very blunt with me. He has less than 40% chance of surviving. People in his condition are not making it and if my some chance they do- they are going to long term care facilities and not making it very long there either.

They asked me if I wanted to stop everything and let him pass. I have chosen to keep fighting as long as he is fighting! So we push on and pray for a miracle.

He coded while I was there and was dead for 11 minutes. They did CPR and shocked him twice and brought him back.

The doctor warned me if they have to keep doing that even if they get a pulse back the lack of oxygen in increases the chance of brain damage.

I stayed as late as I could with him. When I left him he was stable but has all the support from the drugs and ventilator.

I am at home trying to grab some things and make arrangements for my kids, then headed back to the hospital.
