LEAF Foundation Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund
(Learning Empowerment Achievement Foundation)
Now in its 4th year, the Office of Recreation and the Bay City Panthers are raising $4,000 to award scholarships to two deserving Perth Amboy student-athletes.
This effort continues to recognize young people who reflect the same commitment, work ethic, and character that defined Tyrone “Flash” Fashaw.
Tyrone grew up in Perth Amboy and made his mark early as a standout three-sport athlete at Perth Amboy High School. Known for his speed and natural ability, he carried that same energy into college athletics at Bloomfield College.
He spent 38 years serving the community as a bilingual social worker with Middlesex County, always showing compassion to those who needed it most. His love for Perth Amboy went far beyond his career. He dedicated decades to coaching youth baseball and football, mentoring countless young people, and later served with the City of Perth Amboy Office of Recreation, impacting thousands through sports and community programs.
Whether on the field, behind the camera, or helping families during difficult times, Tyrone was always present. Many knew him simply as “Mr. Perth Amboy.”
Your support helps carry forward his legacy and invest in the next generation.
