Hello! My name is Kandi Cox. I am putting together this fundraiser for a dear friend, Tyra Moore, who is in the fight of her life! Tyra is a true warrior! Tyra is a veteran! Tyra and her husband Keith met 35 years ago while they were both serving in Europe with the US Coast Guard.
In 2019, Tyra's world was turned upside down when she received the devastating diagnosis of Stage 2 HER2 Positive Breast Cancer. It was a moment that no one ever expects, and it brought a wave of uncertainty into Tyra's life. However, Tyra was not one to back down from a challenge. With unwavering determination and the support of her loving family and friends, she immediately embarked on a rigorous treatment journey.
For a little over a year, Tyra fought the battle of her life, enduring the grueling effects of chemotherapy, radiation, and surgeries. Her resilience was awe-inspiring, and her spirit remained unbroken. It was a long and challenging journey, but Tyra eventually received the incredible news – she was cancer-free.
Life started to return to a semblance of normalcy, and Tyra was filled with hope for the future. Her strength and courage became an inspiration to everyone who knew her. Little did she know that another trial awaited her on the horizon.
In July 2022, Tyra's life took another unexpected turn. Cancer reared its ugly head once more, this time with a vengeance. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer. The news was a heavy blow to Tyra, her husband Keith, and their loved ones. However, the Moore family was not one to give up easily.
Tyra embarked on her second battle against cancer, enduring another seven months of treatment with remarkable resilience. Her body responded well to the therapy, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the darkness. After seven months of rigorous treatment, Tyra was given a brief respite, a three-month break from chemotherapy. During this time, she and Keith faced yet another challenge – their home in South Carolina had been devastated by flooding during Hurricane Florence. The government ultimately bought their house, and the couple made the courageous decision to move to Arkansas in search of a fresh start.
On Monday, October 30, 2023, Keith noticed something amiss. Tyra began to display stroke-like symptoms, prompting a visit to the hospital. The grim revelation shattered their hopes – Tyra's cancer had returned with a ferocity that seemed insurmountable. The breast cancer had not only resurfaced but had spread to her brain and lungs, with multiple inoperable brain tumors. The medical team at the VA hospital held little hope, and Tyra was released into palliative care. The prognosis was bleak, and hospice care seems imminent.
In the face of such adversity, Tyra's family refuses to give up. Their determination to find a lifeline for Tyra led them to Hope4Cancer Treatment Center, a facility offering alternative treatments that held the promise of hope. The initial starting cost for Tyra's treatment is a staggering $54,000, a sum that feels almost insurmountable. But the Moore family knows that they have to do everything in their power to give Tyra a fighting chance.
With the support of two homeopathic practitioners, Keith and his family rallied together, turning to the kindness and generosity of their community and the wider world, we begin focusing on the target to raise the funds to get Tyra admitted to Hope4Cancer Treatment Center. Their faith is unwavering, and their hope for a miracle burns brightly.
Tyra's admission to Hope4Cancer Treatment Center is scheduled for Tuesday, November 14, 2023, and the Moore family, along with their friends and supporters, hold onto the belief that this journey will be the turning point in her fight for life. Together, they now embarked on this final, courageous chapter of Tyra's journey, filled with hope, resilience, and an unyielding determination to defy the odds.
We need you to help Tyra and her family on this journey. Pray for healing! Give what you can, as you see time is short! All funds will go directly to the Moore family to pay for the medical treatment needed for Tyra. And please share and ask others to join in the fight!
