Tyquann’s Final Resting Place

On Thursday evening, December 16, 2021 while walking to the store, 25 year old Tyquann Elisha Kareem Washington collapsed in the street. It was unexpected. A blood clot hit his heart and ended his life. Ty had struggled with mental health, and while we know this world is not always kind to young Black men, and we know he could have been taken in many other ways, we also know that he was taken while he was in a good place in his life. He had reached a plateau of understanding and was able to accept his condition. He was independent and on his way to normalizing his life. He had just gotten his very first apartment. He was building a business of holistic foods, gems and crystals. He was building his music business of composing beats and sonic vibrations. He had a sense of accomplishment that he had never had before. He was coming up from a dark place and for the first time in a long while, he was truly happy!

It was at that exact moment, the time when he was doing so well and had surpassed some of the most difficult parts of his life that God decided, mid-step, to call him home. This beautiful warrior soul who had been through so much pain and anguish was called home, in victory to be with God.

His mother, Balqis Ali is understandably heartbroken and devastated. Funds are being gathered to send Tyquann to his final resting place, but help is still needed from the community. We are asking for your support. We appreciate and send our love to each and every one who has offered any type of help during this difficult time and ask that you continue to pray for strength for his entire family. From God we come and to God is our final return.
