Hi, we’re Kamal and Kali Alfaro, and we’re reaching out for your support to help our amazing Dad, Umberto, who has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma—a rare and aggressive blood cancer. His life long partner Lucia has now become his full time carer and we have travelled to support them as care is required 24/7 and she can't do it alone.

The past few months have been a whirlwind. Dad lives in Chile, and what started as leg pain quickly escalated into devastating news. A tumor in his leg grew aggressively while we awaited test results, eventually weakening his bone so much that his leg broke just getting out of bed. Emergency surgery was needed to stabilize the fracture, and while he’s recovering, the fight is just beginning.

Why We Need Your Help

Dad faces a long and difficult battle, and the medical costs for chemotherapy, medications, and home care are overwhelming and emotionally taxing for us all. We’ve already spent much of our savings traveling from Australia to be by his side, we've stopped working to ensure we can look after him and he gets the care he needs, but we can’t do it alone.

Our Dad is the heart of his community, known for his cheeky humor, love for the arts, and passion for organizing local theatre productions for free in impoverished communities. He’s always put others first, and now it’s our turn to be there for him.
