Dearest friends and family,
Maria and I are sharing the news about Typhoon odette because it has struck chords deep within our hearts. We can only imagine what it must be like to be there right now and therefore, we are choosing to share our heart with all of you in hopes of receiving a prayer filled donation from you, helping to support our brothers and sisters from the Island of Siargao.
The devastation that took place because of Typhoon Raí,(Odette) which slammed into the Island of Siargao and other Philippine islands on December 15th with winds up to 160 mph. The typhoon wiped out ~95% of all structures, homes, and businesses on the island. As you can probably imagine, this has left the people of the island scrambling for the basic necessities to live. There is currently no running water or electricity on the island, with almost all the homes being destroyed; tents and other temporary livable structures are in high demand as well. The work that needs to be done is to first provide these basic living essentials of light, clean water, shelter and basic electricity and from there clearing rubble and rebuilding will be essential to sustain the integrity and life of this vibrant all loving community. If any of you have ever been to this Island you would understand how full of love the people of Siargao are.
As we begin to settle into the comfort of our homes this holiday season, I humbly ask you to send a prayer to this part of the world who seems to be disproportionately affected by the changes in our climate, which they have little responsibility for. With this prayer, any donation would be greatly acknowledged and appreciated. A $5 donation will provide a family with a solar lamp that will last for 5 years. Literally anything will help. We are so grateful for each and every one of you.
As many of you know my heart is now filled with a deep love for the Philippines after choosing to spend life with my partner, who was born and raised in a small village outside of Manila. Maria and I now have our baby boy a Filipino-American and our dream is to one day move our life out to this beautiful Island and call it home.
With your prayers and support we can help to ease some of the pain these people will be experiencing this holiday season and into the new year as they begin to rebuild their lives.
**All proceeds will be donated directly to Non-Profit Lokal Lab and any other donations will be sent directly to the Youth Organization of Kids for the Future. Both organizations are on the ground in the areas that need our help the most. I will send follow up emails to all donors highlighting exactly where their money went and how it helped support the people of Siargao. ❤️❤️
