Typhoon Odette Disaster Relief, Moalboal Cebu
Donation protected
My name is Alexander Finn and I have been living in Cebu for two years. Typhoon Odette hit the Philippines on Thursday December 16th and caused widespread devastation. The path of the typhoon went threw the majority of the highly population dense areas of Cebu, making the recovery (and response) difficult and slow. This GoFundMe page is to help the ~35,000 people living in Moalboal Cebu, a rural fishing and diving community where I am living (targeting priority residence near the coastline in Panagsama/Tuble/Saavedra Barangays).
The community was in the direct path of the Super Typhoon and is greatly devastated. As of writing this on Thursday December 23, there is no electricity, telecommunications, gasoline, drinking water, food supply, access to banking, etc. (in addition too many of the homes being destroyed).
The plan of this GoFundMe is to raise money to buy food, water, and gasoline (for generators that will be set up for community services) in Dumaguete, Negros (island next to Cebu that was not affected) and bring it by truck to Moalboal, Cebu. The trip is ~120km with one 20 minute ferry between islands. I will be buying supplies and packing the truck in Dumaguete and riding in the truck to Moalboal for distribution. The goal is to have enough support to do this daily until the situation there can stabilize and return to some sort of self sustainability. Thank you for your support.
