Hi, my name is Dream Weaver and I started this fund to help Tyler Kahler.
Most of you don’t know yet, but early Friday morning, December 10th, Tyler Kahler rolled his car driving home from work.
We all know Tyler as the guy who saves lives, well this time he saved his own. He was knocked unconscious during the accident, but when he came to he did a self-assessment and discovered that the artery in his left arm had been punctured. He realized he was losing blood so he used his jacket as a tourniquet. He then set to finding his phone and placed a call to his dad and Laurie. He gave them a rundown of his vitals and his location and had them call EMS.
He was taken to Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. His current diagnosis is that the bone just above his left elbow snapped in half which is what caused the artery puncture. He also has a couple of broken ribs, a broken foot, and various cuts and bruises.
He is currently in the Neuro ICU and will end up having multiple surgeries in the coming weeks. He will need a surgery to try and repair the nerves in his arm, plate the broken bones, and may need skin grafts as well.
He is awake and conscious and according to his dad, he’s kind of running his own show. He wants to know what meds his on, why they used certain needle sizes and everything else in between, but he is being the perfect patient.
Ultimately he will be okay, but he has a long road ahead of him that includes surgeries, hospital time and rehab. He was supposed to graduate culinary school on December 17th, but that along with the new sous chef job he just started are on hold for the foreseeable future.
Tyler is someone that will show up for anyone at anytime. He has been known to literally run into dangerous situations to help complete strangers. He is a dear friend and one of the best humans I’ve ever known. So now it’s our turn to help him.
Tyler has no idea this is being setup and probably wouldn’t want anyone making a fuss about him, but this is the least we can do for the guy who has done so much for everyone else.
Every donation, no matter the size, will help him get through the next several months. All donations will go directly to Tyler to pay for medical bills, rehab services, the purchase of a new car since his totaled or however he best sees fit to support his recovery.
Thank you for taking the time to follow Tyler’s story. I will continue to provide updates here as I have them. If you have any questions, please let me know.
For the time being, it is being asked that he not be overwhelmed with calls or texts so he can focus on resting and recovering.
