Creating one of these pages has certainly been a long fought battle in my heart and mind. I'm trying to think of it as being humbling rather than humiliating. Of course I have been trying to save up myself as best as I can, (I have 3 jobs and donate plasma) but other life events keep coming up. There are plenty of other people, events and causes in need. This is just mine. I am in need of chest reconstructive surgery, normally considered the first surgical process within transitioning. I have been on hormone replacement therapy for 19 months now and this is the next step in my transition and a huge step forward in my life. The cost of the surgery alone is about $8,000, not to include travel expense, psychological counseling required for surgery or the income I'll miss during the recovery. My surgeon of choice is Dr. Medalie located in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Medalie is the closest surgeon I could find to home with decent experience and pricing. He is currently scheduling patients 2 months out. That being said, the sooner the full amount is reached, the sooner I can schedule my surgery. I'm hoping to schedule as soon as possible, no later than the fall of 2017 so I'm able to recover through the winter. Absolutely anything helps and I will be forever grateful to you for playing a part in my transition and allowing me to be one step closer to a life free from dysphoria.
