Tyler's Path: Education and Healing

Hello all, in the spirit of solidarity not charity I thank you for taking the time to read through this. The past two years of living back in my home county of Los Angeles has been quite a journey! There have been revelations, tribulations and a whole lot of perseverance and joy. I am currently in graduate school pursuing my Masters in Education while also gaining my teacher credentials. I feel very excited and honored to be returning to education full time! Previously, I was a Montessori educator for 5 years; teaching helped me cultivate the kindness, presence and love I sought to embody as a mother.

I look forward to aiding in the cultivation of success for every student which begins with creating opportunities for self awareness and development to occur through a culturally responsive curriculum. I have experienced the more a child feels seen, valued and respected the fundamental need for safety is established. A sense of knowing self will help each student in their journey of success. I am dedicated to breaking barriers—both academic and social—so that all students thrive!

Through this GoFundMe I am hoping my near and far community can support me as I embark on the journey of being a full time graduate student thus continuing my career as an educator. Being a present single mother, currently working a full time job and being in school part time leaves little time and space to generate extra income.

The goal of this GoFundMe is to support my first two months as a full time student and bereavement period. May has been mighty in change, my father’s passing took me by surprise. I appreciate your time and consideration in supporting us while standing alongside us during this period of grief and positive transition.
