Help Tyler Take Down Cancer!

Donation protected

This fundraiser has been established for a long time friend of mine, Tyler Ross.  When I think of Tyler I can think of no better friend.  I’m simply doing what I know Tyler would do for me if I was in trouble and hurting.  Rushing to help.

Tyler was diagnosed with cancer on June 18th, 2020.  He was helping a family member move when a couch slid back on his arm and he heard a popping sound.  He went to the urgent care and was referred to an orthopedic doctor.  Upon reviewing Tyler’s x-rays the orthopedic specialist realized something was off.  He immediately referred him to an orthopedic oncologist where Tyler would discover life changing news.  He had a very aggressive bone tumor in his arm known as osteosarcoma.  Osteosarcoma is a rare cancer that typically occurs in children or teens, which makes Tyler’s diagnosis rarer still.  Tyler is a 35 year old man and has a family that loves him deeply and depends on him.  He has an amazing wife, Britney, and two young sons, Jameson and Brennon who adore their dad.  Needless to say, this was heartbreaking news, not just for Tyler, but for all those in his life, and there’s a lot of people his life touches.  Tyler’s an avid conservationist and a passionate advocate for healthy land management.  He leads or is actively engaged in groups such as the Wildlife Conservation Council (NC Vice Chair & Mountain Region Director), Elder Board New Life Community Church, Quality Deer Management Association of North Carolina, Timber Ninja Outdoors, and the Ruffed Grouse Society just to name a few.

Thankfully, Tyler has a strong faith in God which helps bring peace and courage when the trials of life come.  Yet, all who have battled cancer or watched a loved one suffer from this terrible disease knows how devastating it can be physically and emotionally.  Part of the trauma that comes alongside cancer that often gets overlooked is the overwhelming financial cost of treatment.  Tyler’s initial treatment path has already begun and will require 15 weeks of chemotherapy, surgery on his arm, and then another 25 weeks of chemotherapy post surgery, but we know this is just the beginning of the battle.  Fortunately, Tyler has insurance, but there will still be significant out of pocket cost for the Ross family.  We are asking you to please consider donating to help alleviate the financial need and stress that comes with extensive cancer treatment.  All funds will help Tyler with previous and future treatments, therapies, and quality of life costs.  To follow Tyler’s story and progress be sure to visit his caring bridge website!

Any generosity demonstrated is met with enormous gratitude on behalf of the Ross family, and if you know others who would be inspired to help Tyler, please copy the link to this page and share it on your Facebook timeline or Instagram page.  Go see how Tyler has already inspired others by checking out #trickymile!
