Tyler Takes Hollywood Three Months!

ALOHA!!

 My name is Tyler Dela Cruz.  I am 12 years old and will be attending the 8th grade this fall at Waiakea Intermediate School.  This summer, I have kept myself busy by volunteering with one of the teachers in the UHH Upward Bound Program.  I was also a participant in Excite Camp 2017 held at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.  This Camp is made for young teens like me who are interested in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math fields of study.

Two years ago, my paternal grandmother unexpectedly passed away.  She always told me I was “a character” and made her laugh and smile.  Remembering that and with my parent’s encouragement, I was able to complete and graduate from Barbizon Modeling and Acting School in June 2016.  It took my hobbies and gave me a vision of what I could do in the future.

I auditioned and received a callback to participate in Hollywood Showcase in November 2016.  At Showcase, I would be auditioning for top agencies in Hollywood, around the United States and Asia.  Around this announcement of this once in a lifetime invitation, my maternal grandmother became ill.  My parents have fallen into financial difficulties and my sister and I had helped as caregivers.  Grandma passed away in January.

I have been blessed and given a chance to participate at this year’s Hollywood Showcase to be held in Los Angeles, CA in November.  I am asking for sponsorship, whether it be financial or in other kinds of help.  It is to cover airfare, accommodations and several of my audition outfits.  Your sponsorship will help me get closer to my dreams and help me honor my grandmothers who smiled and laughed when I sang and dance.  These are moments I cherish.  These are moments I would like to share with others too.

My Background

I was born in the wonderful city of Hilo on the gorgeous island of Hawai’i.  My parents were both born here in Hawaii.   My grandparents were immigrants from the Philippines.  Both my grandfathers were Sakadas.

I play three instruments. I'v played the violin since I was in the 1st grade and the ukulele since the 4th grade.  Finally, I have been singing since -- well, according to my mom, the minute I came into the world!

I like to help other people.  I enjoy having my sister happy so I play with her when I can.  I volunteer in school and at my church.  

I also like to cook.  I use to bake with my Grandma before she passed away.  My mom and dad lets me help them prepare dinner sometimes.  My current claim to kitchen fame is my baked chicken and steak!


My Talents

I have a few other hobbies or talents but each one explains a little about me so I’ll break it up for you for better understanding purposes.

Singing:   I believe I have GREAT voice, I sing EVERYDAY. I sing to calm me or just when I'm bored. It brings out the confidence in me. 

Dancing:  We all know I got the moves of Michael Jackson and the coolness of Bruno Mars but dancing has the same characters as singing for me. I do it for fun but it also calms me. 

Drawing:  When my body hurts and I just don’t want to talk that's when my hands come in. Me,  I have a passion for drawing. It comes when I just don’t feel like singing or dancing. It's something I would do on weekends or something.


My Academic Future

 After I graduate high school, I want to graduate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology also known as MIT.  I want to become a Pediatrician, or a Scientist that helps people. Graduating with a PhD can get me closer to becoming what I want to be.  

My DREAM

I want to be on television, a commercial, a sitcom or even a movie. I want to be able to sing and dance and make people smile.  I love entertaining in front of my family and the people around me. I want to be able to smile and laugh and if I can make my family and others around me smile and laugh then there is no reason why I can’t make people around the world do the same.

I am committed to developing a professional career in the entertainment world.  I have a positive attitude, and the excitement that will help me get through my auditions at Showcase and will hopefully help me receive callbacks from agents.  It will bring me one step close to singing, dancing, and making the world smile!


I completed my studies with Barbizon  in June and then auditioned for Hollywood Showcase.  I recieved a call back and was invited to join at the Model and Talent Showcase in front of  the Entertainment and Modeling Industries agents nationwide held in November.

I will be competing in the Talent Division and audtioning in five areas:
Runway
TV Commercial
TV Sitcom
Singing 
Dancing

My trip to Hollywood also includes:
a Red Carpet Gala
Awards Dinner Banquet
and a chance to stay at the famous Millennium Biltmore

Please help me compete in this once in a lifetime chance!  I am looking for sponsorship to help defer the cost of airtravel, wardrobe, and the whole experience.

I sooooo want to do this!  I was so happy my mom and dad let me do Barbizon.  I was so surpised to be asked to go to Hollywood and I really really want to.  Mom and Dad are okay -- and so is Cori -- and they are supporting me with what they can.

I hope you will think about it too.   I really want to sing and dance and make everyone laugh.  Maybe in a TV show, on a commercial or maybe a movie.
