Tyler's Story:
On September 27, 2015, Tyler Brandenburger was involved in an accident on his dirtbike and suffered a broken leg. He was sent home from the hospital with the medical advice to ice his leg. Increasingly concerned, Tyler's family took him to St Louis Children's Hospital where he was shortly after transferred to Barnes Jewish Hospital. Early this morning, on September 29th, Tyler spent many hours in surgery due to vascular issues and in an attempt to save his leg. Unfortunately, the physicians determined that they could not do anything more for Tyler and the very difficult decision was made to amputate his leg.
Tyler is an amazing young man who is loved by all those who meet him. The support that is currently lifting him up is a testament to the incredible person that he is. For anyone who has ever had to stay in the hospital before, the short-term costs can add up extremely quickly - from parking passes to costs of eating away from home to driving back and forth to STL to time off work, etc. Long-term, Tyler and his family have a journey of adjustment, medical expenses, and lifestyle adjustment expenses. While we know that Tyler is strong and will come out of this stronger, let's band together and help his family have one less worry.
