Tyler's Long Road to Recovery
Donation protected
On July 4th , a day most family's are out celebrating independence day, Tyler and his family were moving his grandmother from Ocala to Port Orange Florida where the family recently relocated after moving away from the Florida Keys. Tyler fell victim to a tragic accident that left him fighting for his life. Tyler was accidentally shot by a civil war muzzle loader 2 mm above his heart and 2 mm from his carotid artery leaving a hole in his shoulder and burns to his face and neck. Tyler spent 3 hours in surgery to remove the bullet and fragments, his second surgery was to remove more fragments and clean the wound out that took another 3 hours. Tyler spent 10 days in the trauma unit before he was able to go home to Port Orange. Now that Tyler is home, he is still having to travel to Ocala 3 days a week, for outpatient wound care. The family has been working to get care set up in Port Orange, however that has been unsuccessful due to multiple reasons. Tyler is looking at a year or longer to recover, all the while not knowing if his arm will ever be able to work again. Tyler is facing more surgeries in the near future, and his mother is now unable to work as she has had to become Tyler's full time caregiver and driving him 2 hours each way 3 times a week to his appointments all the while caring for her 2 other children as well. The family does not have the financial means to cover basic living expenses due to the tragic event and loss of income. Any donations to the family will be greatly appreciated. If you are someone who prays, the family is asking for prayers, please pray for Tyler and his family through this tough time.
