Tyler Umlauf medical and road to recovery

Hi, my name is Levi. On Saturday, September 4th, 2021 my brother Tyler was involved in a motorcycle accident which involved his motorcycle rolling several times. The fast action of family and friends on scene provided the foundation of Tyler's care being given immediate aid, stabilization, and comfort within seconds of the accident. Ringdahl's ambulance, Ottertail County Sheriff's Dept, Minnesota Highway Patrol & the Fergus Falls Police Department all were on scene to provide care and emergency aid. He was transported to Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls where it was quickly determined he would be airlifted to Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Tyler has suffered a significant head trauma and a brain bleed was found. After several scans, this has stabilized over the last 16hrs and will continue to be monitored. He has undergone surgery to repair and close a larger wound to his head. A drain has been positioned to help with drainage and it is hoped that it can be removed in a few days..

He has significant facial trauma and the extent of these injuries will take time to know fully.

His clavicle has several fractures. And at this time it has now been decided that it either won't be surgically repaired, or at least it is something that will be further down the road.. He has suffered a tremendous amount of "road rash" which is several layers deep in areas and impacting his electrolytes and ability to self regulate temperature. He has an injury to one knee which underwent surgical intervention and testing this morning to explore the joint space. This being done because of large debris amounts in wound bed.

Tyler is being heavily medicated to keep him as comfortable as possible. As he is in a considerable amount of pain. He has become more responsive, will follow simple commands, and has independent thought. He has been today able to open one eye, just a little. He does have difficulty with speech at this time due to the facial trauma. He has a long road of medical attention and recovery ahead of him and I’m asking for as much help as we can get to help him financially with medical bills personal finances. Anything is appreciated.
