Hi, My name is Keith and I am helping to raise money for my son Tyler. He has been diagnosed with a very rare congenital brain condition that inhibits the flow of brain fluid out of his skull. The resulting Hydrocephalus is pressing on his brain and causing extreme difficulties with his balance and his ability to walk. We have been searching for a year for an expert in this field who can perform surgery to correct the condition. The surgery is an ETV or Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy. They will create a new opening in the base of his brain which will allow this fluid to exit the brain as it should. When the fluid can be processed as normal, he will need to undergo physical therapy to then retrain his brain on walking normally. As this condition has been there since birth, his brain has simply learned to adjust to it, but now he has reached a point where there is no more room to adjust.
He has undergone 5 MRIs to detect the condition and devise a surgical plan. He has met with 4 neurologists and 3 neurosurgeons. We were fortunate to find a surgical specialist in this field, but it is out of state. We will need to travel to and stay in Arizona for two weeks for the whole process. We have already made two separate visits there to meet the doctors and perform the needed testing and evaluations. His surgery is scheduled for August 2nd. The cost of any Dr visit is high, but Neurologists and surgeons are very expensive. He has health insurance but there is a high deductible and a significant co-pay. Tyler works but his salary is not sufficient to cover all the costs. We are seeking your donation to help to cover all the costs of the medical procedures and the travel to and stay in Arizona. We would be forever grateful for your help!
