Tyler was on his way to work on Friday, when he felt like something was in his throat. He cleared his throat, and felt a white hot lightening sensation start from the bottom of his throat, proceeding down his left side rib cage. He started gasping for air. He had a friend that had something similar Happen, and knew right away that his lung had collapsed. He went home and told his wife,  lexi that he needed to go to the ER. Mind you, Tyler has not been to a hospital since 2011!  At first, we thought this would be a day or two visit. Not so much.  On day 3, he was informed after closer review of the scans - he had blebs, or air filled cysts on the top portion of his lungs...... Both lungs. Just one little “bleb” burst, causing Tyler’s lung to deflate on that drive to work Friday morning. If more than one “bleb” were to burst, it could very well be fatal.  And he has several!  He will be undergoing surgery today, Monday, August 9th by a cardiac thoracic surgeon to first deflate his lungs, scrape his lungs, and then artificially re inflate his lungs.   Tyler was a smoker, and he vaped. He smoked a lot after losing his sister, KelseyRae to complications from diabetes, Type 1. Then, last April, losing his brother, and best friend Spencer to Suicide due to extreme Lifelong anxiety.  Tyler is done smoking. He urges family, friends anyone who smokes or vapes..... quit before this happens to you. Don’t think it can’t, or it won’t. It’s just a matter of when!  Tyler does maintain medical insurance. He’s a very responsible young man. But that doesn’t come close to what he will be expected to pay out of pocket, medications and loss of work  He doesn’t want to ask anyone for help....... ever!  So, I’m stepping up in hopes that we as a community can help with this, and it return, he will do his best to tell his story and help others so they don’t have to go through all of this pain.
