Tyler & Julie Kalp medical expenses
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Katie (along with Kurt) and we made this page on behalf of our friends Tyler and his wife Julie Kalp. As some of you may already know, Tyler was in a quad riding accident on March 18th in which he suffered multiple injuries including a Spinal Cord Injury. He was Lifeflighted to Conemaugh Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery for stabilization of a fractured T5 vertebra, plating and wiring of a fractured jaw, relocation of left dislocated elbow, and a fractured right clavicle. Tyler spent multiple days in the ICU recovering and was then transferred to the regular floor for care. He was then sent to Hershey Spinal Center for a few weeks of physical therapy and rehab. He is suffering from the loss of sensation from T5 down (mid chest to feet including the loss of mobility in both legs). The doctors say it may take 6-12 months to know if he will regain function. The amount of mental, emotional, and especially financial strain that has been and will continue to be put on this young couple is unimaginable. We are sharing Tyler & Julie’s story in hopes that we can all rally around them as friends and family and help lighten their load and burden of the medical bills and expenses that they will be receiving. They also are hoping to purchase a STIM Bike for Tyler to continue movement/mobility of his legs during rehabilitation (which can cost anywhere from $16,000-$30,000). They purchased a motorized wheelchair so he can get around, and they are renting a van that will be able to fit his wheelchair to transport him back and forth to medical appointments. (This will all add up quickly). If you can please donate we will greatly appreciate it. If you can not please just keep both Tyler and Julie in your prayers and share this Go Fund Me. Thank you all in advance and I know we can do this to help them! #KeepKalpingOn #28strong
