Tyler Ippolitis Medical Expense for Burn Recovery

Donation protected
On Saturday, June 10th, a small table top, fire pit combusted and a 6 foot diameter flame exploded from the unit. Tyler unforutnately caught fire and incured critical 1st and 2nd degree burns to the front side of his body. The doctors have determined that 37% of his body is covered in burns across areas including his face, chest, stomache, arms, hands and thighs.

Tyler was admitted to the ER in Charlotte, NC that evening around midnight and due to the severity and total coverage of his burns, he was required to be transported to a hospital with a specialized Burn Unit in Winsotn-Salem, NC (about 1.5 hour drive north of Charlotte). At 4am On Sunday June 11th Tyler, accompanied by 2 paramedics and his Fiance Ashley, were flown via helicopter to the Burn Unit at Atrium Health.

Tyler was checked again by the new hospitals ER team and then moved up to the Burn Unit. Around 6am Tyler's skin was scrubbed from burn debris and wrapped in bandages and moved to a private room in the Burn Unit. They determined that the burns on his chest and stomach are deepest and most at risk for potentially requiring Skin Graft Surgery. Tyler has also sustained some surface damage to his eyes- the Optometrist has prescribed a medicated eye drop and expects to have a successful recovery there.

As of Monday evening (6/12) we are being told that on Friday, the doctor will check the burns to see if they have gotten better or worse and determine what part of his skin, if any, will require the surgery. It is looking at this point that we will likely have some surgery in this area while the doctors are hopeful that his face, arms and legs will heal naturally on their own.

Day to day hospitalization treatments are regular wound cleaning and bandage replacement, feeding tube for protein and nutrients due to catabolic state and low appetite, potassium level watch, eye care treatment, OT and PT, nutrition support, kidney function and hydration watch, pain med administration and a few dad jokes from a nurse with a sense of humor.

**This GoFundMe is to support Tyler's continuous incurring medical expenses for being hospitalized for the coming week. We are unsure at this point what the total expenses will be and how they will be covered. The initial goal here of raising 100k will likely not cover the total medical expenses, but we are so grateful for any support we can get from the community.

These funds will also go toward life expenses that also continue to occur while Tyler is hospitalized, recovering and unable to work.

His fiance, Ashley is staying all day and over night in the hospital room with Tyler and planning to make periodic visits back home to their RV in Charlotte to check up on the cats and the house. While Ashley was at the same gathering on Saturday evening, she thankfully was not injured... so that she can be attentive to Tyler's recovery.

We will keep this page updated as we hear more from his doctors. We are expecting to know more on Friday 6/16.

Thank you for everyone that supports whether it's through Prayer and love, sharing this GoFundMe link with your community, or donating. Anything helps.
