Tyler was seriously injured during a horse pack trip in the backcountry of Idaho. After being life flighted to Boise, he was rushed into surgery to stop internal bleeding. Tyler suffered multiple broken bones and internal organ injuries including a collapsed lung. He has a long recovery ahead of him and is unable to fly home to Alaska to be with his family while he recovers from his injuries.
