On August 29, with support from family members, Tyler admitted himself to a psychiatric treatment hospital for a 5-day stay for acute mental illness and suicidal ideation. He has been struggling with his mental health for many years, and his health recently took a nosedive. The hospital stay was helpful and very needed. He is home now, under the close care of his family members.
Although his hospital stay is over, his journey to good mental health is just beginning. Under the direction of his mental health providers, he will complete a stay at a residential psychiatric facility (4-8 weeks), followed by step-down care in the form of a partial hospitalization program (PHP, 2-3 weeks), after which he will attend an intensive outpatient program (IOP, 6-8 weeks). Once those programs are completed, he will have weekly meetings with his therapist and monthly visits with his psychiatrist for as long as needed.
During his stay at the residential facility and the PHP, Tyler will have to take an unpaid leave of absence from work. Your gift will be used to pay for medical bills, travel expenses, and rent. We are already incredibly grateful for the loving financial support from people like you for helping Tyler become healthy and happy, and to choose life. If you have words of encouragement for Tyler, we would love for you to include them in your comments.
