Tyler and Ashton Gilbert

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Dalton Mullin. This fundraiser is in support of Ashton Gilbert, the loving wife of Tyler Gilbert who passed away tragically on June 5th 2023 in a fatal motorcycle accident. Out of respect for Tyler and his family, I will not go into further details of his passing.

Tyler and Ashton had battled infertility for many years and only recently were blessed with the news of their first child. Ashton is expected to give birth to their baby in the next coming months and I’m asking that as a community we come to support them emotionally and financially.

Ashton is not only a widow. She is an expected mother who desperately needs support from all of us to aid in the financial needs of her and Tyler’s child. She also carry’s the weight of organizing the funeral, paying the bills, caring for their home, and carrying out the pregnancy that her and Tyler prayed for with as much peace as possible.

Obituary and Memorial Service:

Mr. Tyler Austin Gilbert, 28, of Erwin, passed away on June 5, 2023, unexpectedly. He was born on April 22, 1995, in wake county to Debbie Jo Barwick Pleasant and the late Emsley Britton Gilbert.

Tyler enjoyed shooting, horseback riding, and fishing. He was a devoted and loving husband. He was his wife’s shield and soul. Together their hobbies and interests aligned. They were madly in love, two hearts beating as one. They were eager to be parents and to grow old together. But God decided to call Tyler home. Tyler was a saved, born-again Christian who loved Jesus.

Tyler served in the United States Navy, six years of active duty stationed at NAS Oceana, Virginia Beach, and 3 years in the reserves with the Raleigh Reserve Center. He earned many achievements and awards including the Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2023, at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Josh Brown. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
