Help Tom Get Over His Stroke
Donation protected
On April 28th, my roommate Tom suffered a stroke at the age of 19. He was hospitalized for three days and was discharged when the doctors could still not uncover why the stroke had occured.
He is currently still recovering from the paralysis on the left side of his body. The doctors discharged him without a walker or cane despite the fact that he needs serious assistance walking. His family was essentially told that no one knew why he had the stroke or how he could take measures to prevent another. As a result, Tom is still in need of medical care the ER is not willing to provide.
The reason Tom's family is frantic to find helpful medical care is because Tom's sister, Laurel, is four months into a very similiar affliction. She is 29 years old and has incurred several ceizures, strokes, and blackouts. She has been to many doctors in the course of the past few months, and each specialist has told her the same story so far: "We do not know what is wrong." She has been in and out of a wheelchair and Tom's mother is concerned Tom might be going through something similiar to Laurel.
Tom is a student at Eastern University in St. Davids, PA. He is a member of the Honors College and is majoring in biochemistry with the hopes of going to medical school. He is exceptionally compassionate, and his kindness is famous on campus. He is very intelligent, but his family is very poor. Tom's father abandoned him when Tom was only five. As Tom's mother works at Walmart, Tom has been one of his family's main income providers. Now that Tom is at college, his family has incurred major debt.
His family is in such need of funds that his mother is struggling to buy meals for his four siblings. On top of that, Tom will now receive medical bills which his insurance cannot pay for. Even further, he does not have the money to find the proper medical care he needs. With his and Laurel's hospital bills pilling up, one can see why Tom's family is in need of funds.
I am Tom's roomate, and I have brought the college community together to help support Tom and his family in anyway possible. Tom is one of my best friends, and he has been a light in many people's lives, including my own. He asks for little, and gives immensely. He never complains, and is always joyful. He is a rare person, and his family are all gentle, humble, people. Now he is need of help and has to recover from a stroke which he received while in perfect health.
I am asking you to help Tom and his family recover from their finnacial crisis. Let's raise enough money to help Tom find the care he needs, pay for months of medical bills, and get his family back on track. Thank you for your donations!
