Normally ones to be on the frontlines supporting our community, this time we find ourselves mentally and physically exhausted. We left Maui last year after the fires and moved to Asheville, NC. Nico went back to school and I stayed home full time with Wolf (daycare is a big fat bill). We survived off of our savings, a loan, and help from our parents.

Nico graduated school last month and I got to work while he stayed home with Wolf and looked for jobs in his new field. Things were revving up for me BIG TIME and we were working our way out of the hole. Then Helene came through and blasted Asheville and WNC. One of my jobs has closed their business for good and another one of my jobs had extreme damage so reopening is unlikely for a long while. My private clients have left Asheville for the time being. The Pilates studio that I work at will hopefully reopen soon but we're not sure when. The financial support is bleak for someone in my position with little work history in NC (a month) and Nico who has been in school for the past year.

It pains me and my ego, and it tugs on my guilt because I know there's others more devastated than us, but I need to lean on my community for financial support at this time.
