It feels weird posting a GoFundMe campaign without telling you specifically who it is for. To be honest, I would love to surprise this family. Although they very much need assistance, they would never ask for it. As I describe the situations, those of you familiar with this family will know who they are. I would love for this to remain a secret and anonymous. (They aren’t on FaceBook…)
Several years, the father of the family was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. For over three years he battled two rounds of this disease. Although he survived the cancer, the chemo and radiation has deteriorated his body to the point where he is wheelchair bound, has a trach, and several physical needs that the family tends to. It is a full-time job, and the mom manages 90% of it on her own. She survives on little sleep (as do the two children who help with household chores and tending to their dad). This is where you come in.
I am hoping to raise money for two purposes. First, to help pay for a consistent nurse (whether at night or during the day) to help relieve the mom. She owns a flower shop and what little nursing time she is able to get, she spends either at the shop or running necessary errands like grocery shopping. Because money is tight, she uses nursing help sparingly. Second, her car was rear-ended and totaled a couple months ago. The insurance isn’t offering them enough to be able to purchase a reliable vehicle. The van that they use with the father is over 10 years old, on its last leg and not handicap accessible. When they go to monthly doctor appointments, she has to load and unload the wheelchair and him several times as the appointments are at different locations.
Essentially, this family needs help. They would never admit it and they push through daily, but they could really use assistance. If anyone has connections to a car dealership that could possible help find either a reasonable new car to use for the family and the shop (for deliveries) or to help get a handicap accessible van, that would be amazing.
I have learned for God that unless we ask, we won’t receive. I am asking for you to help me help this family.
