Angels among us

Life has an odd sense of humor. You think you have everything under control and mapped out and then something is thrown at you and you just adjust or don’t. This was the case of beautiful Cindy - our compassionate sister, mother, wife and friend. On Wednesday, December 13th of this year - she was able to become an angel. To watch over all of us to include those she knew and soon to know.

Cindy’s personality was engaging and graceful - she is the person you would see that never gave up on a person, animal or cause. She started out working with children and the elderly and ended working as an office manager in the medical field. Cindy is the lady you would see stop and buy someone’s groceries, give away a coat she just bought at Dillards, intervene in bullying to the point of physical altercations or adopt a gopher who was found in the field by her son. She was little but had the strength and spirit of a football lineman. Cindy loved living - always wanting to learn more about the world around her. She would include everyone into a conversation, trip or event and not let a stranger feel as if no one saw them. Cindy made it a point to let everyone know they are valued.

Along the way - huge speed bumps hit her in her travels of life. She started experiencing major heart problems from - flat lining to numerous to count for unknown causes, heart attacks, pacemakers, by-passes and experimental heart concept procedures. To compound reality of her body was becoming defective, in 2012 she started to go blind. One eye died, the other one went to near blindness state. Then her body started to become very brittle and she was breaking bones. To add to the continued events - Cindy’s kidneys failed and she was placed on daily dialysis. Her body would never heal from open wounds. While in the hospital, she would find anything to share with others - be it the beautiful sunsets and warmth of the Arizona sun to the hospital food of brie and fruit and conversations of history to places visited. The little things we overlook in life - Cindy would treasure them.

Did Cindy ever complain and state “why me” - NO. Cindy would say - there are so many others who have it worse. Cindy was unable to take pain medicine, as it made her extremely ill - so she suffered with the unbelievable surgeries and procedures. She would say - “I have my family and friends about me and the things I love.” She didn’t dwell on the fact that her body was breaking down - she took it and went on. Never materialist at all - she shared kindness and compassion to everyone. If you liked something - she gave it to you - right there. Even the day she was placed back into the hospital the week of December 11th, after breaking her hip and collar bone again, Cindy was sharing her love and kindness. How can one person just look beyond their suffering and say what can I do to insure the others are not hurting or need to be comforted? Two days later she entered Heaven. She knew others could benefit from her even to the end - her wishes upon her death was to donate her precious body to science - knowing that it had failed her - but maybe it could be used to save someone else. She was a devote believer in our Heavenly Father.

The financial assistance donated here will help pay for some of the remaining medical bills and final expenses created over the last 12 year. It is funny though, Cindy would be the one normally who was gathering funds for someone else - and now she is being honored. Thank you to all who took the time to read this passage - please know even if you don’t donate - the thought that you read about Cindy is a blessing too.
