There are many givers in this world; Susan Miller (Borg) is one. If you are involved in animal rescue or helping those less fortunate you should, or may have met her. She has put her heart and soul into this community to help rescue many animals, to help the less fortunate, and to make this a better community. She has helped several homeless people get off the streets and into their own place. She has volunteered at the Bakersfield Animal Care Center, Martin Luther King Park Ministry for the Homeless and their pets, and the newly established M Street Navigation Homeless Center.

 Her friends, fellow rescuers, acquaintances, and family come before you to ask for help for her. It is time for her to receive.

In 1996, Susan was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Endometrial Stromal Sarcoma. Since that time she had a recurrence in the pelvic region in 2007 and in 2011 lung metastasis was confirmed, all of which were treated. For  over  20 years  she struggled  with  ups  and  downs, cancer preventive diets, steadfast  prayer  and faith.  This combination kept the cancer in remission.  During  this  time  Susan  held  a  position  with a  large  oil company, gave birth, raised  a daughter, and relocated  to  Bakersfield.  On November 16, 2020 she was informed that she has a 13cm tumor in the pelvic region and the cancer has metastasized to her liver.  The medical professionals have given her 3 to 6 months to live.  The news, for both Susan and her daughter, was devastating.
