Shane's Medical Expense Fund

At only 28 years of age, Shane received nearly incomprehensible double diagnoses of soft tissue sarcoma (cancer) AND Stage 4 kidney disease (Allport Syndrome) simultaneously in September 2014. This left no time for anything less than aggressive and immediate treatment including two surgeries to remove a baseball-size growth from his leg followed by radiation therapy. Unfortunately, Shane had only gotten halfway through those treatments before excessive medical bills forced him to defer them.

To complicate things further, Shane will need kidney dialysis within the next 4-22 months. He is being placed on the waiting list for a kidney transplant however that is considered a long-term goal at this point.

Currently, Shane’s medical bills are in excess of $142,000 and still growing. Sadly, this is an overwhelming reality shared by many on this site. While he has pursued many insurance and financial aid resources available to him, he is unable to meet the copays needed to continue his critical radiation treatments.

We are asking for prayers and monetary assistance to help Shane live a normal and productive life. He WANTS to pay his bills, and Shane works every day to contribute towards them however, this will be impossible if he becomes too sick to do so. His next challenge is he will likely be placed on disability when he goes on dialysis which will reduce his current income by 40% and add to this already overwhelming burden.
