Our son Devin who is 10 years old has an extremely rare condition, Fibrodysplassia oscificans progressiva, but you can call it stone man syndrome. you can learn about F.O.P. by visiting www.ifopa.org
He is a strong little guy who as of 11/5/2019 has been fighting for his life at sacred heart medical center in spokane with respiratory acidosis. A condition where he isn't releasing co2 from his lungs when he breathes.
He has been suffering since his symptoms arose when he was 2 years old. Doctors thought he had infantile mayo fibro mitosis, a form of non cancerous tumors. Treated him with chemo and surgeries only to find out later that with his condition would be extremely bad.
He developed scoliosis his shoulders fused to where he can't raise his arms. He started to twist a little, his belly is a bit off to the side and he only has about 40% lung capacity.
About 6 months ago he got his wheelchair for assistance at school. It was molded perfectly for his back. He had so much fun in seattle riding the test chair and being able to pick his own colors. He decided to match a friend of ours by going hot pink casters.
Things are getting harder and harder for our family, as we lost the lease on our home roughly 6 months ago we have been technically homeless. We camped for about 2 months at a beautiful island park called chief timothy.
After that we stayed with a friend and let us just say it did not work out. But in july while there after 10 years of being together we finally got married. And we did it at Chief Timothy island.
We relocated to pomeroy washington, to a temporary transition house while we continued our search for a new home, time passed we had our baby Lucien and all was good. Then the time ended for the transitional housing and in october we sadly had to vacate.
We found ourselves in an R.V. that we parked between pomeroy and pataha at an R.V. park at the fairgrounds. It isn't the best but it stays warm and the fridge keeps things cold.
We cannot keep this up all of the expenses for needing storage units and travel have drained us and we still need to find a big enough house for our family.
We are staying with our son in the hospital while family watches our other children, but when he recovers we will need to be on the way to getting a house for him to come home to because an R.V. isn't going to cut it. We are asking for any help with this endeavor. The idea is to be able to either put down a big enough down payment to buy a house or buy land and have a manufactured home put on the property. Either way it needs to be wheelchair accessible and have a big enough room for our son Devins medical bed and future medical equipment.
If we could find a big enough place in our price range for a rental we would be somewhat better but with limited income and one parent working currently we are very limited in our options.
Any donation will help us with expenses even the smallest. Our goal is around $20,000 for a down payment for a house after that we can afford the payments with one income and be able to get by.
We are a very strong family but even the strongest know when it is time to ask for help, so we are begging. Please help us find a home and please pray for our little boy whom we love so very much.
