Jacob Heinz is a single father of 3 daughters and 1 son. He has spent the last 5 years working endless hours trying to build a small business all on his own and does a great job still finding time to spend with his children. 14 years ago, Jacob was struck in the head unexpectedly, fracturing his skull and tearing his retina. Doctors fixed the retina but did nothing about the fracture, and allowed it to heal on it's own. In 2009, doctors again found a small mass in the area, but dismissed it. Concentrating on his business during a recession, all time and money Jacob had to give were exhausted attempting to build a future for his family. Eventually in 2012, Jacob had to make the difficult choice to either lose his home (which was also the home he grew up in), or lose the business he had worked so hard to build. So Jacob chose to save the business for the security of his children, and moved into a rental home. In October of 2014, swelling developed in Jacob's face, so he went to a walk in clinic, where he was diagnosed with a tooth infection. After $400 out of pocket for x-rays, he was given antibiodics, and the swelling went away. In November, the swelling returned behind his left eye. At this same time, Jacob was left with a difficult desicion to leave from his 2nd home in 2 years, and moved into his shop. He has lived, watched his two daughters, and ran his store and studio there in pain for 6 months. Finally, the pain became unbearable so Jacob went to the ER where docotors discovered the development of a large tumor behind Jacob's left eye, putting painful pressure both outward on his eye, as well as inward on his brain. Aside from the physical pain and emotional worry for his own as well as his children's futures, Jacob also now faces multiple expensive surgeries to remove the tumor. All donations will go directly to Jacob's medical expenses only, and any remaining excess will be donated to Gigi's Playhouse Down Syndrome Acheivement Centers, in honor of his youngest daughter, Dezi.
