Funeral Expenses

UPDATE: As many of you know, our father Kurt passed away on March 18th. We are still looking to raise funds to pay for the remainder of his funeral expenses, grave stone and other expenses associated. Please read below for the original story

Hello, my name is Ashley Nemier. I have decided, with my sister Jessica, to create a fundraiser for our father Kurt Nemier.

In March of 2022, our dad found out that he had Kidney Cancer that had gone unnoticed by medical personnel for roughly 5 years. In May 2022, in efforts to spare the kidney, the tumor was removed. During the surgery, the tumor contents spilled when it was being removed. In November 2022 we discovered that the cancer had spread rapidly into Stage IV/ Terminal Peritoneal Cancer. Chemotherapy, nor Radiation can help this type of cancer.

Due to the severity of this diagnosis, it has taken a rapid toll on his body and pushed him to an early retirement. If any of you know my dad, he is a work horse. He has worked Masonry for many years, working through pain for so long from that line of work. However, he did not plan to retire for quite some time. So, the decision to stop working was extremely hard for him for many reasons. As a result, his income has taken a hit, on top of everything else he is facing.

We hate to see him stress over finances while he has so much that he has facing as it is. Our hearts break for him knowing that this is his reality and that money is even something that he has to worry about at a time like this.

My father is the most sacrificial, kind, giving, and loyal man. I know he has never expected a handout or a returned favor for his generosity. He is our hero and we are just hoping that we, as a community, can come together to alleviate as much stress for him as possible, while he lives out the remaining time he has left with us.
