Brian Zimmer's medical expenses
Donation protected

Brian was diagnosed back in February 2011 with squamous cell carcinoma (stage 4 cancer) of the lower right jaw bone mandible. He had surgery to remove the lower jaw with a fibula bone reconstruction. He received radiation and chemotherapy for his cancer treatment. Again, in October 2013, Brian was diagnosed with cancer of the right cheek and lower gum tissue. He had surgery to remove the cancer tissue and had replaced with an Aloederm packing to generate new tissue. Most recently, in November 2014, Brian was diagnosed again with squamous cell carcinoma (stage 4 cancer) of the lower left jaw bone mandible. He had surgery again to remove almost all the left lower jaw with a rod plate and pectoral muscle reconstruction surgery to rebuild a lower left jaw and gum tissue. He currently gets all his nutrition through his G-tube. Recovery for all this has been slow. In addition to all this, we found out in February 2015 that the cancer has spread and it has metastasized to the dermal skin layers on the neck tissue. This new cancer is aggressive and Brian’s cancer treatment was intensive radiation to the face and neck along with chemotherapy to hopefully attack these cancer cells. Our team here in Rochester between Lipson Cancer Center and Wilmont Cancer Center, and the Head and Neck Surgery Center have been wonderful. Despite all these measures and treatments, Brian’s cancer is aggressive and actively growing. We are out of treatment options in the Rochester area. We are looking into the Hillman Cancer in Pittsburgh, PA. They have some other therapy options that may be available for Brian to try to help slow this cancer down. We are looking into many expensive travel and hotel costs as well as medical expenses. We are hopeful and praying this will be the answer we need to get Brian’s cancer in remission or slow it down.
