Easton's Medical Expenses

On Saturday May 2, 2015, Easton lost feeling on his whole right side of his body. In his terms it was like a light switch had been turned off to that side of his body. He did not want to go to the hospital because of the fact that we do not currently have health insurance. He reluctantly went after 1 1/2 hours of persuasion and no feeling in his right side.
At Davis Medical Center they rushed him in and started all the test, MRI, MRA, CAT Scan, blood work, Echo etc. He regained feeling on his right side after about 4 1/2 with his hand being the last to regain feeling. Sunday Morning it was determinded that it was a Mini Stroke due to stress since they didn't see a blood clot in his brain and were unable to get the results of the ECHO on a Sunday. We were sent home with the recommendation to lower stress and take a baby aspirin every day.
On Monday the doctor who discharged Easton on Sunday called with the results of the ECHO. They found a hole in Easton's heart. Dr. Addapu then relooked at the MRI and found the blood clot that had caused the stroke. He classified this event as a stroke not a mini stroke. He recommended that Easton see a cardiologist in order to get that hole repaired so that another stroke does not occur.
Easton has an appointment with the cardiologist on May 19, 2015 to see when he needs to have surgery to close the hole and what procedure would be best to fix the hole. I have tried to find out if we can get assistance but unforuntley we make too much for Mediciad and have missed all the deadlines for open enrollment for insurance. Even without insurance The U of U hospital will require 50% payment for all surgeries not including the doctor visits and any other tests they need to preform before and after the surgery. I am not sure of how much this will really cost but I know that we can not afford it.
This is why we ask for any help that our friends and family can grant us. We wish that we could pay for this on our own and not get anyone involved but this is beyond our abilities.
