I was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in March 2017. It's cause is unknown and only research will eventually unlock the secrets of this most debilitating of diseases. It affects 400 000 people world-wide and about 2000 in Australia.
Proceeds from my fund raising will go to the Macquarie University Research Centre in Sydney which has a team of dedicated researchers and professors working on various projects and trials. Hopefully they will find what causes the neurones to degenerate and die and eventually a cure. This will only happen if they continue to receive funds.
When diagnosed with a terminal illness you have a choice of simply accepting fate or you can actively become involved in trying to make a difference. I have chosen the second option and hope to raise awareness of this disease and contribute towards a cure. This may not be in my lifetime, but one day with on-going research I'm sure there will be a cure.
On the 14th October I will be riding my trike from Broken Hill to Menindee with other riders. All money raised will along the way and through this gofund me account will go towards research into MND
