Hello, I'm an environmental scientist and aunt who is passionate about addressing climate action for people, plants, and animals. I am especially motivated to help save our planet's beautiful ocean, including its diverse coral reefs, for future generations and three nieces, so I decided to start a two-part fundraiser to help protect coral ecosystems.
The first half aims to support the Coral Restoration Foundation, a nonprofit that champions innovative efforts to jumpstart reef formation: https://www.gofundme.com/f/twopart-fundraiser-to-save-corals-support-reef-restoration
The second half aims to address the system-level causes of reef decline, including ocean warming and acidification, by supporting Citizens' Climate Education (CCE), a nonprofit that empowers volunteers across the country to advocate for climate action at local to national scales.
Of course, CCE is close to my heart, as I've been a volunteer for four years now. They've helped me find my voice as a writer, make lasting friendships in my community, and learn how to advocate for climate action in the bipartisan, optimistic, and respectful way that is not only consistent with my values but also necessary for bridging divides and creating the consensus necessary for lasting solutions.
No donation is too small. Please support whichever half of this fundraiser that resonates with you the most OR another cause that you care about. I will match up to $100 for each charity.
Let's save the corals and so much else that depends on climate!
