Two Young Souls Cry For Assistance

We are Tasha(23) and &Tiarra(25)from Long Island,NY we have been friends since our highschool days,we have met when we both were in our high school marching band,The Brentwood Green Machine.After graduating high school.We both started a promising future pursuing higher learning.However our bright future halted during the period of the COVID crisis.Since that time we have been unhoused and thrown into a system that has resulted into devastating outcomes. We have dealt with the Department of social services(DSS),Unfortunately as the DSS process goes if you are housed,we must pay a shelter fee which is directly taken from our paycheck and barley leaves us with a penny each month for our survival,how does one pay for life's necessities and bills(such as female products,food,transportation to/ from work)? this option left us with nothing and only money owed to suffolk county which resulted in being sanctioned.

We previously applied to various programs(Such as Section 8 and Supportive Housing), however there is sadly endless amounts of waiting list.We have exhausted all funds and program during the period January -April 1st 2024 we were housed at Maureen's Haven which houses the homeless at multiple churches overnight during the winter months since the program ended having no choice we are in the streets,not being able to eat,travel to jobs,or lay our heads anywhere.Although it takes a mental toll on us we are keeping hopeful that in August we are able to get back into school and that they would be able to assist with housing as well.

It takes a lot of courage and pride in such unfortunate situations as we are feeling stripped of any self pride and respect that was left in our hearts,but we are doing what we must to assure another day we are asking for a little help in support from the public so that we can get into shelter so we can get back on our feet.Any money amount that you can donate is welcomed and very gratefully appreciated.
