Two sons helping their mother get a new life.

Hello Friends! I’ve raised money for several organizations over the years and I’ve always enjoyed doing it. This time it’s a bit different, it’s personal. My brother and I are looking to raise 15k to get our mom out of a hotel in LA and into a new apartment and a car in Oregon near us so we can help her start a new life.

I went 6 years without talking to my mother because of some bitterness I had from my childhood. After finally going to a therapist and processing it, I gave her a call about 6 months ago to rekindle our relationship. That’s when I found out that she has been living in a hotel for several years in Los Angeles struggling to make ends meet.

She works about 50 hours a week doing door dash and she is paying about $800 a month to lease a car to do the job. My mother doesn’t do drugs or drink but unfortunately because of her abusive upbringing she has struggled to live a stable lifestyle.

Fortunately for my brother and I, we have been able to make a life for ourselves and we want to help her gain some stability and independence which is where the idea to move her out here came from. She is currently awaiting a foot surgery and hasn’t been able to drive which means she is about to lose the motel she lives in and the car she leases to work.

Once we raise the $15,000 our goal is to fly her out here, get her into one of our friends rental properties, and buy her a used car for about $5000 so she can continue to do door dash. That will cost about $8,000. The remaining $7,000 will be for food, new clothes and an emergency fund to give her some time to adjust to the move and start working again after the surgery is healed.

Between my brother and I, we can help out with a couple thousand but to shell out the whole 15k would be tough. I was a bit insecure about making this but I know I have a good church, great friends, family and amazing clients who would love to come together as a community to contribute to someone having a life they’ve never had.

My promise to you is that I will teach my mother financial literacy, make sure the funds are managed responsibly help her become independant and help others who struggle with bitterness towards their parents.

Thank you for being a good friend and thank you for your generosity.

P.S. If you or anyone you know needs someone to talk to about a tough time in their life or their relationships please pass on my number and I'd love to help. [phone redacted]
