Duran, 28 years old, was shot and killed May 27th as he was helping an older couple. His death at 28 is magnified by his older and only brother's unexpected death at 28 just two years ago. The mother, who is beside herself in grief, just lost both of her parents the year before - she has lost her whole family within 3 years. Two gunmen, 29 and 30 years old, were angry at the older couple who were trying to get them out of their rental since evictions cannot be done right now. They went to the older couple's house where one attacked the man in his wheelchair in the yard as Duran and the wife were inside preparing lunch. When Duran went out to see why the man was yelling Help, he defended the man and was then shot by both of the young men. They fled in broad daylight and were found the next day after a 5 hr. standoff. Unfortunately, Duran's death will have to be relived over and over in the court system while hoping that justice will be served.
Duran was one of my son's best friends. My son and both of the boys lived together when the first one died tragically and my son absolutely loved the grandfather who passed so I have heard the stories and have hurt and cried with him through each of these events. Duran is the one I knew personally and loved. I had never met the mom til I called to see how I could help. She is not processing this well, as can be expected, so I am getting some things moving forward for her.
I know she wants a nice video to be done and she has a special Viking box that she has chosen for his ashes. His was a tall strapping lad who loved his Viking heritage. Other expenses would be the obituary in two papers , cremation and a memorial. The mom would like the memorial to honor both sons since she was not able to give the first son the memorial that she wished - she wants them to get the same attention. I am sure there are expenses I have not even thought of.
Your contribution toward these unexpected expenses will certainly make the load lighter, allow her to create a memorable tribute to her beloved sons and let her know she is not alone.
