"TWO POINT ZERO 2" Sequel to the Viral Animated Short Film

An animated science fiction short film I made in 2022 called "Two Point Zero" went viral thanks to TikTok and YouTube Shorts. The creators of those shorts remixed my film which caused people to seek out the original source. I'm grateful for everyone who sought out my tiny YouTube channel and the actual "Two Point Zero".

Fans of my short really wanted to know what happens to these unconventional friends as they navigate a cruel, cold post-apocalyptic wasteland...so I've decided to make a sequel to "Two Point Zero"!

THE STORY SO FAR

The original story is about an unfinished android looking for a sense of purpose after the modern world has been reduced to rubble and ash. This automaton was created to serve people but now, what's left of humanity is scattered across a dying landscape, simply trying to survive a hostile environment.

But not all hope is lost. Unexpected friendships can be found in the even darkest corners of hopeless situations. The sequel will continue to explore that idea.

THE WORLD

Technology was growing at a frightening rate. Before we knew it, fully automated, humanoid servants were in every modern home. The quantum age was here.

But the global conflicts never stopped and technology only made wars more efficient. Then it all came crashing down.

The world as we know it today is almost perpetually gray, a wasteland littered with shadows of our past glory. From ocean to ocean, what's left of humanity has been banished to the shadows of decaying buildings, huddled together, scrounging to survive.

It's a bleak future indeed.

THE CHARACTERS
"ROBOT"

Even though our main protagonist is an android, he laments the fact that the world ended before he was completed. His fate is to wander a destroyed landscape only half-completed in search of a purpose. Unfortunately, the people who survived the war have no tolerance for machines who are more often than not, prone to malfunctioning with deadly results.

Our android finds his journey through the apocalyptic wasteland a lonely one until he comes across a young girl who could use a friend herself.

"Girl"

After losing her family to the hostility of a savage post-apocalyptic environment, she's determined to survive no matter what. But it's not easy. She's been able to secure a safe bunker to live in but food is scarce. Every day, she explores the empty buildings that surround her living quarters in the hopes she'll discover items she can salvage.

It's understandable that she would have severe trust issues while struggling to survive a cruel, barren wasteland. But the hope still flickers insider her that that she won't have to navigate this nightmare alone.

WHERE YOUR DONATION GOES
If I make a sequel to "Two Point Zero" I want it to be better in every way while still maintaining the heart and soul of the original short people enjoyed. A lot of technology has evolved since I created the short in 2022. To do quality 3D animation these days, you need faster computers, better graphics cards, more storage.. plus 3D assets, music licensing, software subscriptions.

It gets expensive so every little bit helps and I plan to put all the donations I receive into making the sequel look and sound as good as possible. Whether that means higher quality models and characters, better motion capture data, smoother animation- whatever I can do to improve on the quality of the original short film.

SCHEDULE
  • Pre-Production (Now - August)
  • Production (August - November)
  • Post-Production (November - December)

I'll post schedule updates here on GoFundMe and my YouTube community page if milestones are shifted up or back. Sometimes I surprise myself and the work gets done faster than I thought!

OTHER WAYS YOU CAN HELP
No money, no problem! Although donations would be greatly appreciated, it's certainly not the only way you can support the project. You can share this GoFundMe page or share the YouTube video on your socials. Spread the word to anyone who may have seen and enjoyed "Two Point Zero" OR anyone you think might enjoy it and would like to support a sequel.

You can also watch, like, and leave a comment for "Two Point Zero" and/or the sequel. I couldn't ask for more support than that too!

ABOUT ME
I've been making movies for a long time. I started like most filmmakers- traditional live-action shorts and feature films (horror mostly). I did some stuff I'm really proud of. Went to some really cool festivals, won some awards, got some sweet film releases and worked with some incredibly talented artists. I was blessed in my filmmaking career but started to get tired of all the logistics needed to produce a film. I started yearning for a better way to tell stories. I always thought animation would be an amazing medium to explore but I felt it was too hard and the technology just wasn't accessible at the time.

I started working with Unreal Engine and Sequencer seriously in 2019 and I never looked back. Couple that with suddenly affordable motion capture tools and 3D asset marketplaces and the rest is history. Now I try to tell the stories that I could never produce traditionally and push the game engine so my cinematics look as, well, cinematic as possible.

It's still a work in progress. As an artist, so am I but I'm eternally grateful to real-time animation for giving my filmmaking career a second lease on life and to everyone who has, and continues to, support this journey.
