Two Moms, One Dream: Help Andrea and Taylor Start a Family!
Donation protected
I’m writing today with such deep love and admiration for two of my dearest friends, Andrea and Taylor Restrepo, a joyful, resilient, and deeply committed couple who are preparing to take the next step in their love story: starting a family through the process of Reciprocal IVF.
If you know Andrea, then you know that she has spent more than a decade sharing her boundless love, energy, and passion with children in the classroom. As an educator, Andrea has shaped hundreds of children into young adults who acknowledge and celebrate the unique value of those within their communities; who open doors for those that follow; and who now lead their own spaces with kindness, acceptance, and a heart for lifelong learning. If you know Taylor, then you know that she has the soul of a caregiver. To be a friend to Taylor is to have the immense privilege to witness the ways in which her beautiful mind bends and expands to determine how best to love, serve, and protect those she cares about. If you know Andrea and Taylor together, then you know how generously they pour into their friendships, their communities, and each other. Now, they need our help to bring their dream of becoming parents to life.
From the beginning of their relationship, Andrea and Taylor have dreamed of building a family together. As a same-sex couple, their path to parenthood looks different, but it is by no means any less sacred. The path these two have chosen is Reciprocal IVF—a process where one partner’s egg is used, and the other partner carries the pregnancy—which will allow them to both be intimately connected to the creation of this new life.
The process of Reciprocal IVF is beautiful, empowering, and deeply meaningful. But it’s also expensive. And rarely, if ever, covered by insurance. The process involves fertility testing, egg retrieval, embryo creation, medications, and the IVF transfer itself—all of which carry a hefty price tag. And that’s before factoring in additional medical, legal, and logistical expenses that queer couples are uniquely burdened with in their journey to parenthood.
I’m starting this fundraiser because I believe in them, in their future children, and in the right of every loving couple to grow their family without facing insurmountable financial barriers.

Whether you’re able to give financially, share this page with others, or just send your love and good energy, your support would mean the world to Andrea and Taylor. Ultimately, this isn’t just about one couple (although this is a particularly special one). This fundraiser is about love, equity, and affirming that LGBTQ+ families deserve the same access to care and support as any other family devoted to raising children who will be unconditionally loved and championed. In a political climate where that truth is often denied, your support is not only a gift but a statement of solidarity.
I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the love these two share, and I can say with certainty: they are going to be extraordinary parents. Let’s help lift some of the burden so they can focus on the joy and beauty of creating life together.
Thank you for being part of their village.
With love,
