Two Little Boys, One Big Fight for Sight
Donation protected
Hello. My name is Kim, a mother of two special little boys — Michael and Miguel.
Both of my sons were born with bilateral cataracts and glaucoma.
Michael (6), my firstborn, is not only fighting inborn cataracts and glaucoma, but he has also been diagnosed with ADHD and had undescended testes. By the age of just a few years, he has already endured four major surgeries and two minor ones — including the lowering of his testes, removal of the cataract in his left eye, lens insertion, correction of his misaligned left eye, and suture removals. All of these cost us nearly ₱500,000.
But now, he faces yet another battle — he urgently needs another ₱500,000 to ₱600,000 for his right eye. This includes removal of the cataract, lens insertion, and the possible insertion of glaucoma devices in both eyes, because removing the cataract can trigger a worsening of his glaucoma.
Miguel (4), my second son, has a more complicated condition. Aside from inborn cataracts and glaucoma, he has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder with language and intellectual impairments, requiring substantial support. He also suffers from global developmental delay, dysmorphic facial features, a suspected genetic syndrome, and chromosomal abnormalities.
Miguel has gone through four major and four minor surgeries: cataract removal in both eyes, lens insertions, a failed first glaucoma surgery (trabeculectomy), and finally a successful glaucoma device insertion. All these came at a staggering cost of over ₱1,000,000.
Now, his condition has worsened — the endothelium of his right eye has been scratched and damaged beyond repair. His eye has turned completely white. He is now permanently blind in that eye, and his only hope is a corneal transplant — another procedure we can no longer afford.
We have done everything we could.
We have exhausted every single resource we had, trying to fight for their vision while they were still so young — just babies.
But we’re at the edge now. We’re tired, financially broken, and emotionally worn out.
I never thought I would ever have to do this — to reach out, to beg — knowing there are so many others in this world suffering too.
But today, as a mother, I am knocking on your hearts.
Please help us.
Help us save what is left of our children's vision — so they won’t live their lives in darkness.
Any amount — even the smallest — means the world to us.
You’re not just helping with hospital bills… you’re giving my sons a fighting chance to see the world. To see me. To see life.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time to read this.
Please keep my boys — Michael and Miguel — in your prayers.
Thank you again.
