TWO FAMILIES DISPLACED AFTER FIRE

Donation protected
You don't ever expect a fire would ever happen to you. Until it does.

Unsupported by insurance, both families struggle to evacuate and salvage what’s left of their belongings. Funds will go towards moving costs, unsalvagable items, and rebuilding their new life in their soon-to-be-found homes.

We were just hanging in our rooms on a normal day. The power goes out and we're thinking nothing of it. After 20 minutes we saw a crowd surrounding our house, and we were thinking what was all the commotion about?

Within 2 minutes, two strangers pulled us out of our burning house. We were standing across the street in the pouring rain. Soaked and in shock without socks, shoes, jackets or our glasses watching our home of 12+ years burn down in blurry vision. The neighborhood in East Vancouver was suddenly lit up with sirens, firetruck lights, and the heat of the engulfing flame. We're blessed that everyone made it out alive and safe with just minor injuries.

There are 8 of us. Andrew, Brandon, Thao, Bach, Christine, Kristy, Dung, and Mai. Andrew lost everything he owned in his room. All his sentimental memories, photos, and clothes are in ashes. All other items in the house, upstairs and downstairs, are steeped in toxic fumes and smoke, but hopefully salvageable.

After finding out there was no tenant insurance coverage, both families are displaced and struggling with uncertainty. We were told to grab what we deemed valuable and evacuate within a week. Without much funds to support the evacuation, and limited personal belongings, your support will help immensely.

Not everyone is fortunate though. The Nguyen family downstairs has been struggling with evacuating. Without much storage and a place to stay long-term, they need much support.

We had to shut down our food businesses and have lost income to fund this difficult time. We've lost some business supplies/equipment and don't have the time to operate our businesses. Dad has also been unable to help with our move after eye surgery.

Funds will go towards thrifting clothes, moving costs, storage, lost furniture, lost electronics, medication, new beds, food, and content for our soon-to-be found homes.

We have been blessed by the support of our community of friends and family. Please share this campaign to help both families rebuild new lives.
