Two Diagnoses, One Family – Fighting Cancer Together
I’ll be honest, I despise asking for help on behalf of my parents. But today, that weight has become too heavy for them to carry alone.
Just a few months ago, my mom, Kathy, was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Doctors removed the tumor, but a spot on her lung was discovered shortly after, and she’s now undergoing intensive chemotherapy. She’s unable to work and facing a long road of treatment, exhaustion, and uncertainty.
As the family began to rally around her, my dad, Steve, her husband of over 55 years, started running a high fever and experiencing severe flank pain. Blood tests revealed a dangerously low white blood cell count. After a bone marrow biopsy, the news came: he has a rare form of adult leukemia.
In the span of just weeks, both of my parents were diagnosed with cancer. Neither of them can work. They are fighting for their lives and now also fighting to keep a roof over their heads, cover medical bills, and afford basic necessities.
My parents have always been the kind to show up for others, family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers. Now, they need us to show up for them.
We are raising funds to cover:
Medical bills and ongoing treatments
In-home care and medications not covered by insurance
Daily living expenses as they’re both unable to work
Transportation to and from hospitals and specialist visits
Emergency and end-of-life planning support, if needed
No donation is too small. Every dollar helps lighten their load and gives them the dignity to focus on healing, not bills.
If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this with your network. Prayers, words of support, and positive energy are just as appreciated.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
