Hello everyone,

My name is Han Yang. I was also once a Working Holiday Visa holder in Australia, and I now live not far from the area where this tragedy happened.

Since the two young workers went missing five days ago, I have been following the situation closely. Queensland has experienced extremely heavy rain recently, but none of us expected that two young people — only 26 and 23 years old — would lose their lives in the floods.

They both came to Australia with hope and dreams for a better future. Tragically, their journey ended far too soon.

I have now been in contact with their parents in China. Both families come from very humble backgrounds, and this sudden loss has been devastating for them.

We are raising funds to help their families travel to Australia and bring their children home. At the moment, we are still unsure whether insurance will cover the funeral arrangements or the very high costs involved in repatriating their bodies back to China.

Because of this uncertainty, we sincerely hope the community can come together to help these two families during this incredibly difficult time.

These two young people came to Australia full of hope, but lost their lives in the floods. The least we hope to do is make sure their families have the support and resources needed to bring them home.

Any support, big or small, will mean a lot to the families.
