Miracle #1...finished. Looking for Miracle #2. I've refrained from posting the progression of this story because I was very unsure how it would play out. Someone cold-heartedly abandoned two beautiful black shepherds out in the countryside several weeks ago. I spent days and nights tracking them in the rain and mud. Every time I caught wind of their sighting from the very helpful locals, I went into the hills to find them. I found them and worked to gained their trust a couple of times. I even had them ready to jump into my van. But, they weren't ready to surrender their fear. After a horrifically botched attempt by Animal Control officers to capture them, a trap was set and the female was captured. But, the male vanished, unseen for an entire week. Cold, tired, hungry, sick, and having survived a week of stormy weather, he finally resurfaced and was spotted by helpful and friendly locals. But, again, he wasn't ready to surrender. It was evening, so I had to give up for the night. After a grueling five hours, I finally got him to load up into my van.
He's currently at the vet's office getting patched up and some much needed rest. I've secured the female at the shelter (I had to officially adopt her in order to have her released). This weekend I will reunite them. I know it will be a very miraculous and emotional reunion!
However, they need a second miracle: to be adopted as a bonded pair. Until then, I cannot keep them at my house, so finding temporary boarding until a foster or adopter comes along is URGENT!
Money raised will go towards their medical needs and boarding until a home is found. Any excess funds will be donated to local rescue groups to help other animals in need.
