My name is Bekki Yang, and I am a close family friend of May Daiber. On Sunday, July 12, May tragically lost her life in a hit‑and‑run near 20th and Teutonia in Milwaukee. She was with her longtime best friend, Amy Austin, who also passed away alongside her. Losing them both in such a senseless and heartbreaking way has devastated everyone who loved them.
May, Amy, and I have been best friends for more than 20 years. Their friendship was unwavering — through Amy’s battle with cancer, her recovery, and every chapter of life that followed. The pain of losing two people so deeply loved is something words can barely hold.
May was a devoted mother of three — all of whom she cherished. She also leaves behind her mother, three brothers, and two sisters. May shared a strong co‑parenting relationship with Matt Daiber, the loving father of their children. Together, they raised their kids with deep care, teamwork, and unwavering love. Matt is now facing the unimaginable task of helping their children navigate life without her.
May was a joyful, carefree spirit who carried herself with quiet strength. She never wanted anyone around her to feel burdened; even on her hardest days, she tried to keep others smiling. She was a proud 3x Wisconsin State Pool Champion and spent more than 20 years building friendships and uplifting others in the pool and billiards community. She was always willing to help wherever she could.
May will be missed dearly by her family, her friends, and the entire Wisconsin pool community who knew her as both a fierce competitor and a kind, generous soul.
This fundraiser will help May’s family cover funeral and burial expenses. Any additional funds will go directly to her children and family as they try to rebuild their lives without her.
