Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out as a parent, hoping to support my beautiful identical twin daughters, Abbey and Bonnie.
Abbey and Bonnie are 20 years old and were both born with Treacher Collins Syndrome, a rare genetic condition that affects the development of facial bones and hearing loss. Throughout their lives, they have shown incredible strength and resilience, attending countless appointments and undergoing multiple surgeries at the Royal Children’s Hospital.
Now that they are over 18, they’ve transitioned out of the children’s hospital system and must continue their care in the adult healthcare system. Their next step is a major one—both girls require double jaw and chin surgery. This procedure is not just cosmetic; it is essential for improving their breathing, eating, speaking, and overall quality of life.
While both Abbey and Bonnie have private health insurance, there are still significant out-of-pocket costs. Each surgery will cost approximately $9,000, bringing the total to $18,000 for both girls.
As a family, we are doing everything we can, but this is a significant financial burden. We are asking for any support—big or small—to help Abbey and Bonnie access the care they need and deserve.
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page would mean just as much to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any support you can give. It truly means the world to our family.
With gratitude,
Kate
