Twin Pregnancy & Homeless with Rare Illness
Donation protected
Hello my name is Jay Fox. As of today I am 29 weeks pregnant with twins & homeless. I have been homeless/displaced since February, and am currently living in my car and a tent around the city and beaches of San Diego.
Due to covid related after effects, I lost my job as a Valet Captain at a hotel in downtown San Diego. Soon after I became extremely ill, unable to eat, nonstop vomiting, extreme stomach pains, and bed bound. Eventually I ended up in the Emergency room where I learned I had lost 20 pounds, was dehydrated, malnourished, had covid, was pregnant with TWINS, and they diagnosed me with a rare pregnancy condition that only affects 1-3% of women, Hyperemsis Gravidarium. Which causes non stop vomiting, weight loss, extreme sensitivity to all sensors, and leaves women hospitalized and tortured. I have personally been hospitalized 7 times due to this pregnancy & illness. Eventually they started me on at-home IV transfusions to keep me hydrated.
Weak, bed bound, and incredibly ill I have been unable to work, unable to leave bed most days. The combination of losing my job, becoming pregnant and unable to work left me behind in my rent and bills and eventually without a home.
There isn’t a resource I haven’t researched or applied too, but due to the housing shortage, housing competition with no rent cap, and with homelessness on the rise in San Diego, they city simply does not have enough resources.
I struggled with shame and embarrassment and even the idea of deserving to use a platform like this. But as time goes on and my circumstances haven’t changed, the light at the end of the tunnel is disappearing and terror is taking over. The terror of having my children taken from me.
The reality is I still have no where to live I am at risk of losing the most important thing to me, my children. My 9 year old daughter and my unborn twins. I will do everything in my power to keep them! This circumstance doesn’t define me, I am determined to bounce back as soon as I regain my health.
I know we are not the only ordinary family this has happened too, so I come with a humble and gracious heart while seeking this support.
Any amount of sponsorship is greatly appreciated along with the sharing of my story and campaign in your communities and among your peoples.
I plan to use this resource to obtain safe housing for my children and I, reliable and safe transportation, essential needs for babies and I, counseling, medical expenses, and emergency expenses.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
