At just 19 years old, twin brothers Walter and José have endured more than most of us could imagine in a lifetime.

Originally from Chiclayo, Peru, the twins are now in the United States on medical visas, fighting a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer. After years of misdiagnosis and delays in care, their mother, María Isabel, made the courageous decision to bring them all the way from Chiclayo to Chicago, determined to fight for her sons' lives.

A Rare Cancer, a Rare Bond

Walter was diagnosed with fuso-cellular adamantinoma, a rare tumor that doesn’t respond to standard chemo or radiation. His brother José has also been diagnosed with early lesions of the same cancer. Tragically, Walter has already undergone an above-knee amputation of his right leg—and more recently, doctors discovered the cancer has now spread to his lungs.

Despite the physical pain and emotional toll, Walter and José face each day with courage and deep love for one another. They are not just fighting for their lives—they're fighting for each other.

Originarios de Chiclayo, Perú, los gemelos están ahora en Estados Unidos con visas médicas, luchando contra un cáncer óseo raro y agresivo. Tras años de diagnósticos erróneos y tratamientos fallidos, su madre, María Isabel, tomó la valiente decisión de traerlos desde Chiclayo hasta Chicago, decidida a luchar por la vida de sus hijos.

Un Cáncer Raro, un Vínculo Inquebrantable

A Walter le diagnosticaron adamantinoma fusocelular, un tumor poco común que no responde a la quimioterapia ni a la radioterapia convencional. Su hermano José también ha sido diagnosticado con lesiones iniciales del mismo tipo de cáncer. Trágicamente, Walter ya tuvo que someterse a una amputación por encima de la rodilla en la pierna derecha—y recientemente los médicos descubrieron que el cáncer se ha diseminado a sus pulmones.
