Seeds of Africa Fundraiser

Next month I turn 24 (#PiscesSZN) and thus, painfully part from my early twenties to join the quarter-life crisis club that is one’s mid-twenties lol... Lately, I’ve been simmering on a quote by Philip James Bailey that says “We live in deeds, not years; in thoughts, not breaths...And let each try, by great thoughts and good deeds, to show the most of Heaven he hath in him.”

In taking his words to heart, I’m fundraising $2,400 from today until my birthday on February 19th for Seeds of Africa. This organization is unique in that it strives to eradicate poverty in Adama, Ethiopia by instituting a self-sustaining model that aims to end generational poverty.

Seeds works specifically on the economic empowerment of households by investing in the entrepreneurial education of primarily women (moms and grandmothers) to amplify their family’s income. From this perspective they’re able to equip women with micro-loans to promote their small businesses, which in turn, allows them to support their families and become financially independent. At the same time, Seeds of Africa invests into the next generation through sponsoring the education of children in this region with the creation of  after school programs, supplying student uniforms and enriching academic curriculum.

If you know me then you know how much I love my cultural community and that I’m passionate about its development. Soooo if you wanna make it rain on this cause, you’d be giving me theeee perfect gift by giving back.

Cheers to living in deeds, not years!
